Carving School
Since its first intake in 1967, the Carving School has nurtured and trained hundreds of carvers. In this school, the prestigious art of carving is taught, passed on to young trainees under the skilled guidance of graduate and master carvers, some of whom were students of the school themselves.

High standards
Students complete a three-year diploma with the opportunity to compete a further honours years at the completion of their degree. The work produced by students is of the highest standard. For over 40 years, Te Puia has carved – partly or fully – over 30 wharenui (meeting houses) throughout New Zealand and created countless gifts for official guests and dignitaries visiting the country.
